Hi friends! I’m Pippin the Little Ballerina Rabbit, and I love learning ways to feel calm and happy. Here are my five simple tips for mindfulness – a fancy word for paying attention to what we feel right now. These tips help me feel good every day, and I hope they help you too!
1. Take Three Deep Breaths
When I feel worried or need to slow down, I stop and take three deep breaths. I breathe in through my nose and let my belly fill up like a balloon. Then I breathe out slowly. Deep breaths help me feel calm and happy.
Let’s try it together: Take a big breath in, then blow it out slowly. Do this three times – it feels so nice!
2. Notice Your Feelings
I know it’s okay to feel lots of different things. Sometimes I feel happy, and other times I might feel sad or even angry. When I notice my feelings, I place a hand on my heart and ask myself, “How am I feeling right now?” This helps me understand myself better.
Try this: Place your hand on your heart, take a breath, and think about how you’re feeling. It’s okay to feel just like you do!
3. Enjoy Little Things
Mindfulness is also about enjoying small things that make us smile, like a pretty flower, a cozy blanket, or yummy food. I love to look around and notice little things that make me happy. They make me feel calm and thankful!
Try this: Look around and find one little thing that makes you smile. It could be a colorful toy, a friendly pet, or even sunshine coming in the window!
4. Move Your Body
I love dancing and moving! It’s a great way to feel happy. When I stretch or dance, I feel my body move and my muscles stretch – it’s like my body and mind are working together.
Try this: Reach your arms up high, wiggle your fingers, then bend and touch your toes. Moving is fun and helps us feel good!
5. Think of One Happy Thing Before Bed
At the end of each day, I like to think about one nice thing that happened. It could be something fun I did, a friend I saw, or a yummy snack I ate. This makes me feel happy before I go to sleep.
Try this: Before bed, think of one thing that made you smile today. It’s a nice way to end the day and have sweet dreams.
